About Us

At Certified Plates, we specialize in manufacturing custom UK number plates for vehicles. It is important to note that we solely produce the physical plates themselves, which can be displayed on your car. We do not sell private registrations or personalized registration numbers. If you are interested in acquiring a private or personalized registration, you must purchase it through official channels such as the DVLA or companies like Swift Reg, Top Reg, Reg Transfers, and others.

Once you have successfully purchased your registration and received all the necessary documentation—such as the V750, which serves as your Certificate of Entitlement—you can then place an order with us to create the physical number plate. Our plates are designed to enhance the appearance of your car and make it stand out on the road.

Please be aware that when ordering a plate, you are required to provide the relevant documentation, along with valid identification, such as a driving license or passport. These documents can be submitted to us either via email at certifiedplates1@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at +44 7502 676998. Failure to provide the necessary documents and identification will result in a delay, and your order will not be dispatched until we receive all required materials.

If you have any questions or require further assistance, feel free to contact us at +44 7502 676998. We are here to help with any inquiries you may have.

Commonly asked questions

1) Question: What is the difference between a show plate and a road legal plate?

Answer: The key difference between a show plate and a road legal plate lies in their intended use and compliance with regulations:

A road legal plate is designed to meet all the legal requirements for use on public roads. In the UK, these plates must adhere to specific guidelines set by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), including:

  • The correct font and spacing (using the standard "Charles Wright" typeface)

  • Proper sizing and positioning of letters and numbers

  • Display of the British Standard (BS AU 145e) mark

  • Inclusion of the supplier's name and postcode

These plates are legally required to be displayed on vehicles that are driven on public roads, ensuring they can be clearly read by law enforcement and traffic cameras

A show plate, on the other hand, is created for decorative purposes and is typically used on cars for display at shows, exhibitions, or private events. Show plates are not bound by the strict DVLA regulations, meaning:

  • You can choose custom fonts, colours, and layouts.

  • You are not restricted by size, spacing, or other legal guidelines.

  • They are not intended for use on public roads.

Since show plates do not meet the legal standards for road use, driving with them on public roads can result in fines or penalties. They are purely for aesthetic or promotional purposes.

*WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES YOU MAY FACE IF YOU DECIDE TO DISPLAY 'SHOW PLATES' ONTO YOUR VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING ON PUBLIC ROADS

In summary, road legal plates must conform to UK regulations for use on public roads, while show plates are for non-road use and can be customized without restriction.

2) Question: Are shadow and Ghost M number plates road legal?

Answer: Yes, both the 'Shadow' and 'Ghost M' letter styles are considered legal. You may be wondering, "Isn't the lettering required to be a solid black colour to comply with regulations?" To clarify, the 'Shadow' and 'Ghost M' styles feature matt letters applied on top of the 4D 3MM characters. While the matt finish may appear less shiny, it is still a shade of black, not grey.

According to a DVLA spokesperson, as long as the lettering remains black, the specific shade or finish—whether glossy or matt—does not affect its legality. Therefore, these styles comply with the BS AU 145e standard, and are fully legal until any further changes to the legislation are made.

3) Question: Are shaped number plates legal?

Answer: Yes, shaped number plates are road legal as long as there is a minimum gap of 11mm from the edge of the letter to the edge of the plate and the plate contains the legal markings with correct spacing and font.
